PDF bank statement converter: supported layouts and limits

Understand text PDFs, debit and credit columns, OCR fallback and the limits of automatic bank statement extraction.

Recognize the layout

BankXL reads dated transaction rows with a signed Amount column, separate Debit and Credit columns, or Paid out and Paid in columns. US, UK, Canadian and Australian statements often use these patterns. No bank affiliation or universal bank support is claimed.

Try a real sample

A sample account opens at 1,000.00, receives a 2,500.00 deposit and pays 125.50 to a supplier. The expected closing balance is 3,374.50. This is synthetic example data, not a customer statement.

Handle scans carefully

An image-only page is rendered and recognized by local Tesseract OCR. OCR results are explicitly marked for review. Blurred scans, rotation, unusual tables and handwriting may fail. No AI service receives your file.

Know the boundaries

Maximum 15 MiB, 100 pages and 3,000 transactions per PDF. Encrypted files are unsupported. Amounts use a dot decimal separator and optional comma thousands separators; decimal-comma currencies are unsupported. Multi-currency statements need separate review; no exchange-rate conversion is made.
